A trip to New York is a must for everyone. It really is a city that never sleeps. In Time Square at night, you are drawn in by all the advertising and lights. The infrastructure from outside into the city works perfectly. Trains run every 5 minutes from Newark directly to the World Trade Center. Unfortunately, you have to book time slots to visit the Edge or One World, otherwise there is no chance of getting up there. We did a lot of sightseeing and bought the New York Pass for 4 days in advance, which was recommended. Here you have many things included as far as the sights are concerned. The most impressive thing was probably the museum of 9/11. We also took the train to Cony Island, where there is an amusement park, which was the highlight for the kids and then went swimming in the Atlantic. Unfortunately, the flight to New York is very expensive and takes quite a long time, but it's definitely a must for the impressive experiences. The hotels in the city center are almost impossible to afford if you want to stay longer. We recommend staying in a hotel outside the city center.

Highligts

New York is always busy, but unfortunately the attractions are often touristy and overcrowded

Hidden gems

The Edge with its glass floor was an insider tip. The park on Brooklyn Brige was a great place to relax.

Destination recommendation

We will definitely fly there again. The city is amazing.

I love this mega city. Walking 20 km in one day is nothing. You can gather more impressions in this city than in any other. The view from the Empire State Building over the city is gigantic, and it's even better in the dark. The New York Pass is highly recommended. It allows you to see many sights for less. You can book this pass for certain days. Coney Island is worth a visit with children, there is an amusement park and afterwards you can swim in the Atlantic and eat delicious food on the promenade. New York with its many bridges and adjacent parks also invites you to linger and relax. The 9/11 Museum is a must-see. It gives you goose bumps. We also took the free ferry to Staten Island, past the Statue of Liberty, with a great view of the New York skyline from the water. There is so much to tell, but seeing it with your own eyes is even better. I'm definitely coming back a third time.

Highligts

Central Park to relax. The famous Statue of Liberty had to be visited.

Hidden gems

Time Square in the dark. All the lights are overwhelming.

I've already been to the city twice and will definitely be back.

Everyone should have made a trip to New York at least once, it was and is as beautiful as I have never seen it anywhere else, there are seemingly endless activities and excursions that you can do there. I particularly liked the Statue of Liberty, as you usually only see it in movies. The food was delicious almost everywhere, and I can always recommend Red Lobster. The train takes you everywhere and actually runs every 5-10 minutes.

Highligts

There is never a dull moment in New York as there is always something going on.

Hidden gems

Personally, I really liked the Edge tower with the glass platform

Destination recommendation

I will definitely fly there again

What everyone should have done once is this trip. It's the best I've ever done and I've already done many. I liked the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge best, two absolute highlights in New York. You can eat delicious food on every street corner. You can either get around on foot, which I wouldn't recommend in the summer in the heat, or by metro, you can simply take a card from a ticket machine. I wouldn't do anything differently on my next trip or avoid it altogether.

Highligts

Almost everything in New York was a real highlight. It was never boring and we always had something to do. I particularly liked the Statue of Liberty, which you usually only see on TV. Otherwise you can do everything in New York, from water activities to sightseeing.

Hidden gems

Personally, I found Brooklyn Bridge very cool as it looks great and is also on the waterfront

Destination recommendation

I would recommend New York as it is a city that never sleeps there is always something to do.

Pros

There are many places of interest

Lots of delicious food

Cons

Very few garbage cans

Very expensive on the whole

We went on a two-week trip to America and spent 5 days in New York. Our accommodation was in Manhattan, 2-3 minutes' walk from a subway station. The great thing about it is that you are super flexible in terms of places and time. If you use the subway in the evening (depending on the location, e.g. Brooklyn after 11 p.m.), stow your bags or other valuables well or don't show them. Nothing happened to us, but there were a few moments when I felt uncomfortable and turned my engagement ring with stone inside out. Not much bothered us on the trip, what was annoying was constantly calculating the cabs and tipping. Depending on where we were, we tipped up to a maximum of 10 dollars (the standard percentage is partially deducted automatically by the card reader) and that piled up, so you ended up spending 100 dollars just for the tip. My highlights from the trip: - Have enough cash with you. You can't always pay by card! -NBA game in Brooklyn. Even if you're not a sports fan, you should treat yourself to something like this in America, regardless of the sport. The entertainment is simply on another level. -We saved ourselves the money for the Empire State Building and other viewing platforms and instead went on a helicopter ride at lunchtime instead. Best experience of my life. It's definitely even more beautiful in the evening. -Central Park is a must. Buy something to eat, snacks, drinks and just sit and chill in the greenery. -Another personal highlight: Museum of modern art very, very nice pictures and interesting features especially the part with video games, Van Gogh's Starry Night and paintings by Monet. I can't say whether the paintings are still there, so it's best to do some research beforehand - It's best to buy a Metro Card for a week, then you can travel as often and as much as you like. It's really worth it. We simply went to Times Square again around midnight because we felt like it. -Reeves/Hershey store in Times Square very tasty milkshake with roasted marshmallow and chocolate and opposite is a Krispy Creme donut store. You can see how the donuts are made and you can get really fresh and delicious donuts here. As well as fun souvenirs everywhere. - You can eat pretty well anywhere in New York - great bagels, sandwiches, diners and great restaurants. Nobody stays hungry here. And it's not super rich, greasy etc. either. It just depends on how and where you eat. - Halal Guys: Check the location beforehand via Instagram - everyone who loves sauces must have tried their white sauce. Plus the saffron, rice, salad and meat. - New York Style Pizza. Anyone who loves it cheesy and greasy must have eaten it.

NBA Game, helicopter flight
