Breaking 300 years of Moorish rule, King James the First conquered the island after landing in Santa Ponça. At the entrance to the marina a cross has been erected at the spot where James landed and every September a fiesta is held where the ‘Moors’ battle the ‘Christians’ in commemoration of the historical event.
