You can not miss visiting Barcelona if you enjoy good food, good weather and friendly locals. Barcelona is one of the more beautiful cities in Spain. It offers many activities from cultural visits, gastronomic experiences, parties... I really recommend going on less touristic months. From April to June and from September to November are the best times to go in my opinion. I recommend visiting all the buildings by the architect Antoni Gaudi: La Pedrera, Sagrada Familia, Casa Batllo...

Highligts

Top spots to visit: Barceloneta Beach, Sagrada Familia, Parc Güell, La Pedrera, Casa Batllo

Hidden gems

My trip to Barcelona from 9.12.-12.12.2023 was a cool short city break. Barcelona is a city with many architectural masterpieces and great infrastructure. It is very culturally diverse and you can experience a lot. An absolute highlight is watching an FC Barcelona match or taking the harbor cable car. You can eat almost anywhere, there are thousands of options. The city is generally very expensive and crowded with tourists. Nevertheless, it is well worth seeing and the city can be easily explored by public transport.

Highligts

The first highlight was the FC Barcelona match. The second was a visit to the Opium Club. The third was a ride on the harbor cable car. And the last was the shopping street Las Ramblas.

Hidden gems

The insider tip was the Placa del Sol. There were lots of bars and cafés there.

Destination recommendation

Because the city really does have something for everyone.

Pros

Beautiful city

Lots of architecture

Cons

Many tourists

Very expensive city

Barcelona was a fascinating mix of vibrant culture, food and very different architecture. A city to experience, even for my little seven-year-old son it was very interesting, although city trips with him are not quite fun. All in all, most points for Barcelona.

Highligts

The Sagrada Familia, La Rambla, the Gothic Quarter

Hidden gems

The Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic): A charming old town with narrow streets, squares, historic buildings and cozy cafés

Destination recommendation

Because it was breathtaking, we were in February 2023 and the weather was perfect, even in a T-shirt

Pros

La Rambla street is unique

Very full of life

Cons

Flight from Vienna was expensive

Many restaurants close and only open in the evening

I went on a day trip to Barcelona. My first impression was not that spectacular, because the city is already a beautiful city, but not so much that I would say I absolutely have to go there again. However, the Sagrada Familia was exceptional. The entrance fee is quite expensive, but it was more than worth it. An indescribably beautiful church and definitely an experience. Gaudi's works in Barcelona are generally worth seeing.

Barcelona really impressed me! The Sagrada Familia is amazing, so impressive and the atmosphere in Gaudí's Park Güell was totally relaxed and colorful. I was lucky with the food - tapas in a small bar were a hit. Patatas Bravas and Gambas al Ajillo, really delicious! And a paella right on the beach was a highlight. Getting around Barcelona was really easy. The metro was super practical and many places could be easily reached on foot. On my next visit, I would probably try to avoid the mega-crowded tourist hotspots. La Rambla was cool, but quite crowded. But overall, Barcelona was an absolute highlight of my travels!

Barcelona Apartments - stunning architecture, fascinating culture and warm and friendly people

The sophisticated city of Barcelona is one of Spain’s most visited cities. Barcelona offers attractions and activities to suit all tastes and ages and, while the city may be large in size, it is simple to get around. Barcelona is home to a wide range of tourist attractions. The best tourist attractions include Parc Guell, which features tile work by Antoni Gaudi. The tree-lined Las Ramblas, arguably the most famous street in Spain, is visited by locals and tourists alike for a stroll while the Parc de la Ciutadella, one of Barcelona’s most visited parks, is the perfect place in which to relax in the summer sunshine. La Sagrada Familia, Gaudi's striking church, is a symbol of Barcelona as is the Casa Mila, a unique building also designed by Gaudi. Barcelona is where a number of important art galleries and museums can be found. The most popular of these is the Picasso Museum, which exhibits a large collection of Picasso’s paintings and ceramic work together with information on Picasso’s life and achievements. Another place bursting with fascinating history and amazing artistic achievement is Hungary Holiday Villas.

Choose Barcelona Holiday Rentals for a sophisticated city break you will never forget

The opportunities for shopping in Barcelona are outstanding for those staying in Barcelona apartments; the city arguably has the greatest selection of shops in Spain. Barcelona offers large, designer outlets to small, traditional family-owned stores. Barcelona’s markets are equally impressive. The city’s food markets draw considerable crowds of tourists and locals alike. Boqueria Market, an exciting, fresh food market located in a cavernous structure, is filled with local produce. The street café life in Barcelona is rich. In the evenings, tourists staying at Barcelona accommodation enjoy sitting outside in the squares to relax and soak up the sunshine.

Barcelona hosts a variety of occasions throughout the year, much to the delight of those in Barcelona holiday rentals. In February, the city hosts the Feast of Santa Eulalia, a festival featuring medieval dances. A large carnival is held in March, beginning during Lent season. The summer months are popular with tourists to Barcelona and it is during this time that a wide range of festivals can be enjoyed, including the Feast of Sant Joan, which features fireworks and promotes feasting, Sonar, a celebration of electronic music, and the Grec Festival, a festival of music and theatre. Fashion fans to the city will enjoy visiting the Gaude Home, a men’s fashion show held in July.

Between March and June in Barcelona, it is possible to witness championship events in a range of sports, including American football and tennis. American football is becoming increasingly popular as a spectator sport in the city. The season runs between spring and summer. Cycling is a national sport and favourite pastime, with the Bicycle Fiesta being held in May. Barcelona holiday rentals book up quickly during these events so tourists are advised to book well in advance of their stay. If you are on the hunt for the perfect city break, there are several incomparably beautiful cities in Italy boasting wonderful Italy Holiday Rentals that are well worth a look.
