Spain Apartments - a timeless favourite holiday destination alll year round -
Spain has also had its fair share of influence on other regions of the world, the conquest of America in the 1500s left behind an eternal legacy of more than 500 million Spanish speakers worldwide, making Spanish the second most widely spoken first language today. After Iberian, Roman, Germanic, Moorish and finally Christian rule, Spain had become the most powerful kingdom in Europe. For a century and a half it remained the superior world power in possession of the vastest transatlantic empire.
Even though the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi had an influence on much of Spain’s architecture, the Kingdom of Spain is also full to the brim with other spectacular architectural delights. For those interested in Gaudi, however, an unmissable stop on your tour of Spain is the city of Barcelona. The large Roman Catholic basilica, Sagrada Familia, is the last and arguably the most impressive of Gaudi’s work. Aside from Gaudi, is the imposing Mezquita, or “mosque” in Spanish, of Cordoba. Once the second largest mosque in the world, this magnificent construction was originally intended to be a warehouse. The Royal Palace of Sevilla in Seville is a perfect example of the ornate, elaborate and lavish styling of Mudejar architecture brought to Spain by the Moors.
