The journey there is a long one. Several flights are necessary. But in the end, the 8-hour journey is worth it. It is very easy to get around the islands in a rental car. Many good restaurants are also within easy reach. I would avoid the places during the summer vacations and recommend visiting in April and May.

An insider tip would be the Cedros volcano in Horta. Beautiful hiking trail around the crater. Very beautiful and worth seeing. You can also walk down to the crater.
