Haarlem can be described as a small Amsterdam. Compared to the capital, it is much less touristy and invites you to stroll through its beautiful old town. The narrow streets are particularly beautiful in the summer months. Also worth seeing is the St. Bavo Church, whose organ is said to have been played by Handel and Mozart. Everything in Haarlem is within walking distance of the train station.
