I traveled to Maastricht with my partner in January. Unfortunately, I can't really recommend the city for a longer stay. It is a good destination for a day trip to go shopping in Maastricht city center, but if you stay longer, you will quickly get bored. Almost all the routes can be walked or cycled. And if you want, you can spend the night on a houseboat on the Meus to spice up your stay!

The main destination in Maastricht is of course the old town with its many stores. The squares are also great places to linger. Walking along the Meus is one thing, but you can also spend the night here on houseboats. This can be an attractive option for travelers!
Hidden gems
As the city attracts many day trippers, it makes sense to find out about parking spaces in advance and book them if necessary. This saves time and nerves!

We visited Maastricht in November with a group of friends, as the city is very close to the German border and we had already heard a lot about the nice flair of the city. The location on the Mars is really beautiful, and the restaurants and bars are also very nice. We highly recommend the rooftop bar on the Social Hub Hotel, from where you have a great view of the whole city. Right next door you can have a very nice dinner at a small harbor. We also recommend a hike over the Petersberg, which is right next to Maastricht. All in all, I would highly recommend Maastricht as an excursion destination.

We took a boat trip across the Meuse. We also went hiking on the St. Pietersberg. We also strolled through the city and enjoyed a meal in one of the many restaurants.
