Mykonos: Our recommendations
300 sunny days per year
The sun shines up to 300 days a year on Mykonos, which can thus boast of an extremely friendly climate. Only in February and March there is usually rainfall, while the average summer temperatures are around 80 degrees. Even the winters remain very mild and pleasant with an average of 60 degrees. Bathing pleasures are thus almost guaranteed all year round, and with your vacation home on Mykonos you are never far from the magnificent beaches.
Things to see in Mykonos
A special highlight of the small island is "Little Venice", the most charming quarter of the island's capital Chora. White and colorfully whitewashed cottages adorn the picturesque alleys here and nestle with the last row of houses directly on the seashore. Some of the island's chicest and hippest bars and cafes congregate here, creating an inviting nightlife atmosphere. Culinary delicacies then also entice you to the diverse restaurants, if you want to leave the kitchen in your vacation home cold for once.
Another famous feature of the island are the roundish windmills, which were once used for grinding grain. Today they are out of operation, but still adorn many hills on Mykonos. Climbing the elevations at Chora is rewarded by a fantastic view of the town center, the harbor area, and the Mediterranean Sea.
No less remarkable is a visit to Panagia Paraportiani Church, which is also located directly on the coast. It is considered one of the most photographed churches in the world and impresses with its fancy architecture. As if chiseled out of white stone, the building complex, which consists of several different churches built next to and on top of each other.
World famous nightlife
The island's party scene has now achieved fame far beyond the country's borders and attracts not only Mykonos travelers, but also world-famous DJs. Clubs like "Cavo Paradiso" and "Paradise" open their doors day and night on the Paradise Beach of the same name. Thus, danceable sounds of various music genres from rave to dance classics resound here directly on the beach, which thus becomes a gigantic open air party.
Also in the localities, above all Choras, the night life pulsates in clubs like the "Scandinavian Disco" or "La Notte". The Greek island is also known not only as one of the most remarkable party destinations in the world, but also boasts a particularly open and tolerant approach to the gay community.

Excursions in the surroundings
Several smaller islets belong to the Mykonos archipelago. Excursions to other pearls of the Aegean Sea are thus only a short boat trip away. For example, the crossing to Delos takes only 20min and is rewarded with a rich cultural treasure. Since ancient times considered the birthplace of the god Apollo and his twin sister Artemis, the ancient Greeks built here a variety of temples and statues, which are now UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
