I was in the Tyrolean region with a group of friends in the area from Mayrhofen to the Hintertux Glacier, mainly for winter sports. I particularly liked Mayrhofen. The ski area is large and the town itself is cozy. I ate a cheeseburger with fries at Mo's Esscafe in Mayrhofen. Very tasty and, above all, a good restaurant for the price. The means of transportation was the bus. It worked really well!

Highligts

Winter sports. Good food. Guaranteed snow. Hospitality

Hidden gems

Hintertux Glacier is highly recommended. The town center of Mayrhofen is great.

Destination recommendation

Yes, I would highly recommend Tirol.

Pros

Diverse region

Snow-sure region

Cons

We love Tyrol! Sillian is great and the Sporthotel is a dream for families! San Candido is only a stone's throw away. Lienz has a good hospital in case something should happen to you. Otherwise, we can highly recommend the Golfhotel in Lienz. In Obertilliach you can take the gondola to the top and after a delicious lunch you can toboggan down the 7 km long toboggan run with the children.

Highligts

A dream for us! We go to East Tyrol with the children and sometimes with friends every Christmas. Tobogganing, skiing, good food, Christmas market, there's simply everything here!

Hidden gems

Sillian is a great little village on the Italian border in the Dolomites. So you get the best of both countries and have lots to discover, even with small children who don't ski yet. The Sporthotel in Sillian and the Wichnachtsmarkt in Innichen are our insider tips!

Destination recommendation

Great for young and old.

Pros

There is always snow at the end of December!

Great new accommodation with super service!

Cons

Ski pass is a bit expensive

Ski equipment is expensive to hire

Best for

Fans of water sports

The Tyrol region in Austria offers something for every visitor, e.g. glistening mountain lakes, snow-covered glaciers, thundering waterfalls and much more. There are great views from the mountains on the hikes and very nice huts to stop off at with delicious local food and drinks. The historic old town of Innsbruck is a particular highlight, as are the Swarovski Crystal Worlds and Kufstein Fortress.

Highligts

Hiking in the mountains and then a stop at one of the huts, the old town of Innsbruck and the Swarovski Crystal Worlds are particularly worth mentioning

Hidden gems

Viewpoints from the mountains such as the Silvretta High Alpine Road or the accessible Jakobskreuz in the Kitzbühel Alps

Destination recommendation

Unique landscape and many highlights to choose from

Pros

Something for everyone

Great views and wonderful hikes

Cons

Relatively time-consuming journey

Best for

The vacation in Tyrol/Mayrhofen was an unforgettable experience. The snow-covered Alpine landscape and the small, picturesque villages created a harmonious atmosphere. The hospitality was warm and welcoming. The hikes through the mountains offered impressive views of the mountains over 3000 meters high. The only point of criticism could be the somewhat excessive ski tourism. Overall, however, a wonderful place for nature lovers and those seeking relaxation.

Highligts

Skiing, winter hiking, thermal baths, culture

Hidden gems

A visit to the Natureinspalast in Hintertux or a ride on the Zillertalbahn.

Destination recommendation

Beautiful snow-covered Alpine landscape.

The village of Westendorf in Tyrol in Austria is simply a fantastic vacation destination in both summer and winter. In summer you can go hiking, climbing, mountain biking and swimming in the many lakes. In winter, conditions such as snow and sunshine are certainly ideal for skiing, snowboarding and many other sports. You will also meet many tourists, such as those from the Netherlands, with whom you can party.

Skiwelt ski pass. Apres ski on the practice slope.

Rent Tyrol Holiday Lettings and Tyrol Holiday Cottages for a perfect winter break

As part of larger mountain region known as Tyrol proper, the eastern side of Tyrol is situated in the country of Austria and shares a scenic area of the Alps that is visited by thousands every year seeking Tyrol accommodation. Within the Austrian province, Tyrol enjoys the famous city of Innsbruck as its capital, sharing much of the Germanic alpine culture also found in Southern Bavaria, Germany. Other towns in the region visited regularly by tourists from all over the world include Alpbach, Oberndorf, and St. Johann. Come and enjoy the beautiful natural scenery of Central Bohemia Apartments.

Rent Tyrol Holiday Chalets and enjoy a skier's ultimate holiday dream

Tyrol holiday rentals are world famous, well-known both for their winter sports in the mountains as well the unparalleled scenic beauty of the Alps during summer and autumn seasons. Some other regions well-known internationally for the winter sports and skiing opportunities they offer are Zealand Holiday Homes and Grenoble Ski Chalets. Innsbruck itself was the site of the Winter Olympics in 1964 and 1974.The area is dotted with glossy alpine lakes and mountain castles and the locals often dress in the traditional clothing also found in the German state of Bavaria to the north. Because the area is nestled in the mountains, the weather can warm up quickly during the daytime and drop again as night approaches. As a result, visitors on a holiday Tyrol should pack both warm and cold wear. Travellers can gain access to the area by flying into the Munich, Germany, or Vienna and Salzburg, Austria, and then navigate the rest of the way by rental car or train. A regional flight there is possible, however, from Frankfurt or Vienna. Alternatively, there are trains to your Accomodation Tyrol, with direct routes from and to Innsbruck. Another top-rated European skiing location you may also enjoy is Isola 2000 Ski Chalets.
